About the piece
A prelude for solo guitar by the Mexican composer Manuel Ponce (1882–1948), written in close collaboration with Andrés Segovia, for whom Ponce produced much of the modern guitar's core repertoire. The piece favors a clear, songful line and warm harmony over technical display, in a concise, meditative form.
