About the piece
A traditional Catalan carol, 'El Noi de la Mare' ('The Child of the Mother') sings of gifts brought to the infant Jesus. It entered the classical guitar repertoire through the arrangements of Miguel Llobet and became widely known after Andrés Segovia adopted it, its simple modal melody lending itself to warm, songful voicing.
