About the piece
'Adiós Nonino' was written by Astor Piazzolla in 1959 on news of his father's death, and stands among the most personal works of his nuevo tango. Alternating an elegiac opening with a driving tango pulse, it transfers powerfully to the solo guitar despite its origins in the bandoneón ensemble.
