About the piece
"O Trenzinho do Caipira" is the toccata from Heitor Villa-Lobos's Bachianas Brasileiras No. 2 (1930), evoking the rhythm of a country train winding through the Brazilian interior. Villa-Lobos (1887–1959) fused Bachian counterpoint with Brazilian folk color; the piece is heard here in a solo-guitar setting.
