About the piece
"Julia Florida" (Barcarola) by the Paraguayan composer and guitarist Agustín Barrios Mangoré (1885–1944). Cast as a barcarolle, its gently rocking accompaniment supports a serene, singing melody. Barrios, among the finest guitarist-composers of the early twentieth century, gives the piece a lyrical grace that has made it a repertoire favorite.
